week in review

things that happened this week:

a patient asked me why a beautiful girl like me didn't have a ring on my finger,
that he had a thing for girls with dark hair and blue eyes.
and told me he wanted to take me to olive garden for our fist date.
at first it was flattering then i just felt awkward. as i went into his room
less and less as my twelve hour shift went by,
i finally told him that i had a kinda boyfriend.
ha ha which is totally not even close to the truth but it
still didn't stop his antics.
luckily, i had a patient that was headed towards getting transfered
to the icu right at shift change so we didn't
give bed side report in his room.
and he was discharged after i came back to
work after two days off.

another patient told me i looked like an actress.
she is an extremely stable trache patient but with out a speak valve
and is able to communicate just fine through mouthing words.
it wasn't until later in the day that i finally
understood who she thought i looked like.
liza minelli! really? um, thanks.
haha, she was the sweetest patient so i know she meant
it as a compliment but yeah, i totally don't see it.

i have three more shifts in orientation! scary.
i can't believe that nine weeks has gone by!
some days are still rough but overall
it is so much better then my previous nursing orientation.
